oil on masonite
painting is 12 x 12”
The most striking feature of this painting, I think, is the rich red surrounded by warm, deep tones of golds and greens and splashes of white. The young men on the floor were working on a paper about their favorite painting in the Museum of Fine Arts (Boston).
That painting is John Singer Sargent’s
“Charles Stewart, Sixth Marquess of Londonderry, Carrying the Great Sword of State at the Coronation of King Edward VII, August, 1902, and Mr. W. C. Beaumont, his page on that occasion”
Whew! that’s quite a title.
